Approva’s integration with Mircosoft Office

August 28, 2007

For most of ERP vendors, one of the areas which makes the solution stands out is the usability. The application which provides the intuitive navigation and the seamless integration with information worker’s daily job, wins the competition.  I could not agree more on it. iPhone concept does work for ERP software.

Approva’s integration with Mircosoft Office is a good case study of Office Business Application (OBA) as it puts.  You can see how it integrates with Microsoft portal, Outlook and Excel.

Tripwire released version 6.0 of its Tripwire Enterprise configuration audit and control solution. According to the vendor, the solution improves IT’s control over unauthorized configuration changes, increasing efficiency and mitigating risk.In addition to providing a single source for detecting all change across servers, network devices and databases, version 6.0 now includes automated techniques to filter and classify changes. This enables IT to treat a change based on the type of system, the type of change, and its risk or severity level, Portland, Ore.-based Tripwire says.

“Tripwire discovers and remediates the unauthorized changes, configuration errors and policy violations that lead to outages, noncompliance, configuration drift and unplanned work,” said Andi Mann, senior analyst with Enterprise Management Associates, in a release.

Approva has announced the debut of Role Designer, a product that enables users to perform advanced role modeling for their SAP systems. In addition, Approva announced that SAP has certified its BizRights Continuous Controls Monitoring Platform at SAP Labs for use with SAP ECC 6.0 (mySAP ERP 2005), the most recent version of SAP’s core ERP product line.

Approva Role Designer provides advanced role simulation and analysis capabilities that enable SAP security professionals and other system users to design and optimize both new and existing roles. Role Designer provides visibility into role definitions across SAP landscapes and automates role creation tasks that would otherwise be performed using a manual “trial and error” approach. Role Designer enables companies to ensure that their security model is optimized to balance business needs against regulatory and operational risks.

“Now that most companies have established strong user access controls for their SAP environments they are starting to search for ways to optimize roles and business processes without introducing new compliance risks,” said Prashanth “PV” Boccasam, chief executive officer of Approva. “Approva Role Designer enables ERP security professionals to design roles that make smart tradeoffs between security and efficiency.”

Approva Role Designer, along with the rest of Approva’s product suite, runs on the BizRights Continuous Controls Monitoring Platform (BizRights CCM). BizRights CCM was recently certified by SAP at SAP Labs for use with SAP ECC 6.0. The two components certified by SAP Labs, BizRights Adapter Version 3.6 and the BizRights Data Extraction Engine (DEE) Version 3.6, are powered by SAP NetWeaver 2005. The certification indicates that BizRights CCM meets all of the requirements to connect to SAP NetWeaver, which is the foundation of mySAP solutions.
